DALLSS, Inc. African-American Family Nurturing Program

Based on the nurturing parenting book by Stephen J. Bavolek, Ph.D. Family Development Resources, Inc., the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development, and the National Black Child Development Institute, Inc, DALLSS established, in collaboration with The Tree of Life/Arbol De Vida Spanish Nurturing program, the first African American Family Nurturing Program (AAFN) in Massachusetts.

DALLSS established AAFN to help African American families establish good and appropriate parenting skills, establish cohesive family relationships and family unity. AAFN provides parenting lessons to promote the philosophy of nurturing parenting for the primary prevention of child abuse and neglect. AAFN work with ex-offender parents helping them to reunite with family members. The goals are:

  • To prevent recidivism in vulnerable families
  • Reduce the rate of juvenile delinquency and alcohol abuse
  • Stop the inter-generational cycle of child abuse by teaching positive parenting behaviors

AAFN targets all families needing guidance in building better parenting skills, and are at-risk for abuse and neglect with their children. Parents having control and obedient issues with their children are welcome to contact our program coordinator for a consultation.
